More Moma

I had a great time when my sister was visiting! I am still going through all the photos I took. I love having a digital camera and being able to shoot hundreds of photos, but for a somewhat indecisive person I'm having a hard time choosing the ones I like the most. The Cindy Sherman exhibit was awesome and overall my entire trip there was so inspiring. I really need to go more often. Here are a few of my favorite pieces.

László Moholy-Nagy
A IX

Josef Albers
Homage to the Square: Confident

Robert Rauschenber
Collection

Max Ernst
La famille nombreuse (The Large Family)

Jess
Narkissos

The last one is really fantastic because it's just chock full of goodies. One could really spend lots of time taking this one all in. It's no wonder the artist spent years working on it! Jess began making it in 1976 and worked on it until 1991, but conceived the idea for it in 1959 (a 30 year span!). Time well spent in my opinion.

SF and sisters

Well folks, it's been a rad summer. I traveled to San Francisco for an awesome two week vacation.  Sisters unite!!!

Jessica and I ventured into the SF MOMA for the Cindy Sherman exhibit (which she has great pictures to post). There were several rooms dedicated to her large scale photos. Besides the amazing photographs from Cindy Sherman, there were tons of other awesome things to see!

Here's some of the artists that most inspired me:

Joseph Cornell:

Barry Mcgee:

Paul Klee:
Rothko:
No. 14, 1960
(this picture really doesn't do the colors justice as they are mesmerizing in person)

And just because, this is the view from the top floor of SF MOMA:

We also stopped at a really cool sculpture garden in Sonoma. There were a bunch of amazing, interesting sculptures as well as conceptual spaces done by various artists. Certainly a great interlude to all those lovely wineries! Here's a few of the sights that intrigued me:

I had a great trip! Sadly, of course, saying goodbye to my sister is never easy. But alas, the summer is dwindling down and school is about to start up. Fall is around the corner. I'm looking forward to it though :)

Wood cuts.

Here are two new reduction wood cuts, inspired partially by Alex Grey. The reduction wood cut technique is challenging, yet oh so rewarding. Once a layer is printed, the next is carved out of the wood completely eliminating the previous work. The colors didn't come out exactly as I had hoped, but I still like the finished product. The second print was an experiment.

Take a look

Shop update! The new painting is a variation of a series. I like adding to a design. That's the beauty of sacred geometry, the variations are endless.

Magic Carpet Painting

If I had the chance to design my own magic carpet, it might look something like this. Gold paint is turning out to be the most difficult thing to capture in a photograph. In person, it looks rich and it shines in the light. Maybe I should be taking videos of my work?

New work

I've been painting like crazy. I can't get enough of that gold paint. It's so fabulous in person!

More to come...

Winter hike.

I recently went on an amazing magical hike. I am currently having prints made of some pictures I took which will soon be on sale in my Etsy shop, yay! Winter is an introspective time of year, and nature is always the hub of it all.

Meteor shower.

Did you get to see it? I attempted, yet failed. It was way too cold for me!

I really like this calendar, inspired by space. Space is so insane when you think about it, but APAK makes it cute and fun:
